Customising Colors in Boards Websphere

In Kudos Boards for Websphere we can customise the colors that are available for users to tag their cards. We can add or remove colors and change them. Be aware that modifying a color will change all existing assignments of that colorId.

Changing the colors in your Kudos Boards installation is done by creating a custom boardsConfig.json file and modifying the objects under “colorsConfig“. See the excerpt from the Kudos Boards Install Guide that covers customising properties files in general.

I’ve provided an example of a customised colorsConfig here with several reds added. When creating new colors, be sure to give them a unique colorId. It’s useful to understand that when a user assigns a color to a card, they are actually assigning a colorId to the card and this configuration maps the colorId to a color.

If you’re interested in doing this and have any questions or would like more assistance, you’re welcome to comment below or contact the Kudos team at support@kudosboards.com.

Task 10.2 – Customising Kudos Boards Properties

The files for customising Kudos Boards Properties need to be placed in the directory at <CONNECTIONS_SHARED_DIR>/boards/properties/. These files are then automatically copied into the application directory upon start up.

Available properties files to customise:

application.properties – Server URLs (do not customise this unless you know what you are doing)

connectionsConfig.json – Context roots for Connections & Kudos

boardsConfig.json – Miscellaneous application settings, colours for tiles and themes, etc.

Please Note:

• For files in JSON format it is critical that the syntax is valid for the customisation to take effect.

• This step can be performed at any stage after the installation

1. Copy the property file(s) to be edited into the customisation folder at <CONNECTIONS_SHARED_DIR>/boards/properties/ from the location kudos-boards.ear/default-properties

2. Open the newly copied files and edit the properties as required.

3. After all the string, property and image customisations are completed, restart the Kudos Boards application via the WebSphere Application Server ISC.
